About Brigid

Brigid McConville is a prize- winning journalist and author who has covered stories about the rights of women and girls for 35 years. For the past decade, inspired by the passion and achievements of the grassroots members of the White Ribbon Alliance which campaigns globally for women’s health rights, she has pioneered ways to support women to tell their own stories and make their voices heard.

Whether facilitating citizen journalism workshops with campaigners in Uganda or asylum seekers in the UK; whether enabling women to script their own videos or sharing stories with other fiction writers in Somerset, she loves creating stories and helping others to create stories.

McConville continues to write books, make films and provide consultancy services to UN agencies and non-profit organisations.
‘ . She makes you feel at home. She’s got an infectious smile. She reminds me of Princess Diana. She will always look for the nearest swimming pool.’ Faridah Luyiga, White Ribbon Alliance Uganda.
